The Eastern grey squirrel is fast becoming a real nuisance pest on southern
Vancouver Island. These aggressive animals have all but wiped out the
much smaller native red squirrel. These squirrels have no real predators
to speak of. In our climate, these animals do not hibernate and will
breed multiple times in a season. These animals can be very destructive,
tearing off shingles from your roof or damaging soffet areas to gain
access to your attic space. They also love to knaw and thus are a major
fire hazard when they decide to chew on electrical wires in your home.
